inquiry meets imagination & intelligence

mission

We look for literature and academic work that smashes through intellectual boundaries in new and novel ways. This is work that causes cognitive surprise and wonderment about why a now blinding flash of the obvious wasn't seen before.
Research Prof Press (RPP) is a new player in the small-house, big reach publishing business. Established in the Spring of 2026, RPP now has more than a dozen books on the shelves at Barnes and Noble. At RPP, we believe there is only one reason to write a book: For the money!
If you look at the self-publishing, and the small house organs, you'll see a distinct message for aspiring authors. That message? "At Broken Spine Publishers, we publish your story so that admiring readers around the world can feel fulfilled and entertained by your words." There are a lot of people who purchase those services for $199. Many authors will feel that call to action and will gladly pay for the base package that throws a few pages between front and back covers. Others will pay more for the assurance their book will be marketed to B&N, KDP, and Borders. Note: they're saying they'll market it. There's no guarantee the book will get to the shelves, and there's absolutely no guarantee that once it's there, it will be promoted. It won't. The stores might have a spot in an already crowded product space, but that spot comes at a price. The price? Once that book is there, it has to sell. If it doesn't sell, it doesn't go to a discount rack. It goes back to the publisher for a refund. If it comes back, the publisher loses money by betting on a book that won't sell. If it comes back, the author has to give back the royalties they earned by selling the book to the retailer.
RPP helps you write something worthwhile. It helps you bring it to publication. It helps promote the work, and it helps in distribution. Our success lies in how we help you create something interested enough to sell to a buyer who won't return it. Quality matters!!
Here's a truth: getting a book on the shelves at B&N takes an enormous amount of work. The first part is the work needs to be good. We can help you with that. RPP has some of the finest writing support services in the industry. We'lll guide you along, help you polish the work, provide editorial and market guidance, and represent your work to the real power players in the publishing business: The literary agent! They're the ones who can get a book on a shelf, or even up-trade a title to a larger house that can market it better, This is common.
RPP is a full-service house. We seek research and knowledge driven books and essays that promote knowledge. These works can be academic in nature, published as a work by a single author or author set. We also do edited volumes of individual author's research.
We do more than that. We also look for contributions to knowledge from the non-fiction author, the poet, the historical fiction author, and the general author with original ideas. We also look for edited volumes of academic articles, and critical studies on a wide variety of subjects. We want to cross disciplinary boundaries, create cognitive surprise, and make those blinding flashes of the obvious real!
We seek and publish work that translates complex cross disciplinary scholarship, papers, social commentary, and work in the Arts & Sciences into clear, usable insight. For you, Research Prof Press bridges academic rigor and applied understanding, combining peer-informed scholarship with editorial discipline.

ResearchProf Press publishes books across a wide range of disciplines and genres. Explore our distinct imprints and series below.

June, 2026

A call for papers..

On Topic: The need for deeper, wider, more challenging, and better communicated meaning of difficult subjects created away from shackles and silos and into a new freedom to challenge, clarify, and communicate to a wider audience.

Examples, maps, topics, tunes, poems, equations, code, literature, art, religion, and psychology communicted not through different voices, but through a chorus or symphony.

Crossings is an open source journal where you can mercilessly throttle artificial boundaries in the arts, sciences, humanities, engineering, business, economics, data science, and math.

Think theology and physics. Cultural and political commentary for new viewpoints that demand the crossing of what must not be crossed. We break convention, and we make really difficult topics meaningful in new ways.
